After losing game one of Saturday’s double header, the Bethany Swedes flipped the script on Sterling and blanked the Warriors in the nightcap 8-0 to earn a weekend split.
The Swedes’ 6-2 loss in game one was highlighted by solo home runs from Ciera Flores and Gabriela Rodriquez. Bethany reloaded their bats for game two and provided plenty of firepower to back a superb outing on the mound from Kayla Eggly. The freshman from Newbury Park, CA struck out 3 batters and one-hit the Warriors for the shutout win.
Bethany’s Eggly, Flores and Morgan Russell came out swinging to stake a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, punctuated by Russell’s two run blast over the center field wall. The Swedes never looked back enroute to the 8-0 win. The Swedes improve their overall record to 10-24 and take their 4-4 KCAC record to KCMO to face the Avila Eagles on Wednesday.
