Each summer, dirt and grass fields lined with chalk become an oasis from a long winter. It's where generations return to hit the ball and run the bases.
According to Lindsborg Recreation Director Beth Ferguson, over 100 area children grabbed their bats and mitts for fun on the baseball field. “We have 13 teams this year and that is between T-ball, coach pitch, machine pitch and youth pitch, and those are our Lindsborg teams,” Ferguson said.
Teams from McPherson, Hesston and Newton are also part of the mix during this year’s baseball season, an effort Ferguson says would be impossible without parents pitching in. “They’re huge! We honestly couldn’t do it without them,” she said.
