The Smoky Valley girls basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season, defeating Southeast of Saline on Tuesday night, 53-47 in Lindsborg. The Lady Trojans rallied late in the 4th quarter to trim the Viking’s lead to six points but were held off as SV’s Breanna Priddy popped in 11 of her game high 20-points in the fourth quarter to power the Vikings to a 7-point victory. Adrian Hazelwood added 13 points in the win for the Vikings as well.
In the second game, SVHS boys were chasing the Trojans throughout the game after SES took a 29-17 lead into the locker room at half. The Vikings pulled within 10 points in the fourth quarter but fell short in their home opener as Southeast held on 64-51. Vincent Pickering led Smoky Valley with 11 points while Karson Pihl added 10. The boys fall to 0-2 while the girls stayed undefeated at 2-0. Both teams head north to Concordia to take on the Panthers on Friday.
