Smoky Valley fell short Tuesday night at home, as the Hillsboro Trojans were able to hold off a fourth quarter charge and defeat the Vikings 64-57. The Vikes jumped out to an early lead but trailed at halftime 31-26. Four SV players finished in double figures with Trey Kennedy and Ryan Heline scoring 10 points each, while Cade Schneider fired in 12 points and pulled down two rebounds.
Viking Senior Matt Lucas led a fourth quarter uprising, scoring 10 of his 12 points in the final stanza while grabbing five rebounds on the night. With the loss the SV Boys are now 4-9 this season. Trojan Sophomore Matt Potucek poured in a game high 18 points to lead all scorers on the floor.
Smoky Valley girls lost the front end of the duel, falling to Hillsboro Tuesday evening by a score of 30-27. Junior guard Ellie Brumbaugh led the Vikes with 12 points in the contest.
